Intro: Legendary vocalist Walter “Bunny” Sigler just released a 12 track Christmas album entitled “When You’re in Love at Christmas Time”. Sigler is a pop and R&B icon and record producer who has done extensive work with the team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, and who was instrumental in creating the “Philly Sound” in the early 1970s. He is nicknamed “Mr. Emotion” and his musical career covers over 15 albums, 20+ single and an amazing career which spans over 40 years. Need I say more?

Review: “When You’re in Love at Christmas Time is an impressive release and the result though far from a self-indulgent ego trip, rather a moving and elegiac artistic statement from start to finish. This is not your overly predictable Ramon Noodle Pop Rock Christmas album. No Sigler goes much deeper than that. Sigler has way too much soul to live in the shadows of overly-predictable Holiday albums. Indeed this is clearly evident in songs like “Little Drummer Boy” the title track, “Winter Wonderland” and “Ave Maria” which methodically ups the ante to a very respectable level of catchy musical expression and craftsmanship that transcends pigeonholing. This amazing collection is also commercially viable with a slamming sound and an entertaining vibe that makes a real connection with the listener. Let me go on record by saying I’ve never heard a Christmas album have so much mojo before –wow! Sigler and company hit’s it out of the park, and all pieces within this album hold the attentions span of the listener perfectly. What’s more the 12 song line-up possess an amazing amount of musical variety and comes fully loaded and appeals to many listeners with a wide variety of musical styles. This CD is in my Christmas Album Collection from her on out – no kidding…

Conclusion: This 12 song collection from Sigler is a must have for your Christmas. It’s amazing how well Sigler has transformed these Christmas classics into an addictive, yet infectious musical statement. No doubt Bunny Sigler as carved a marketable niche for himself over the years. In close “When You’re in Love at Christmas Time” is simply testament to his legendary talent.
