Papa D – Biography.

It all started in 1971 ..  when I thought it might be a good idea to have a go at this mobile disco thing. I had always had a liking for Motown/Soul etc. that had been, then, a growing scene. Having persuaded my then partner to spend a small fortune on all this ‘gear’ off we went, it probably cost me far  more than I made, but what the heck?!  Boy! did we have fun!

I must have been doing something right because in the space of a year I found myself selling the mobile disco kit, the van and associated bits and pieces to work for a radio station, now defunct, in the South of England. From there I was engaged by an entertainment agency as a DJ/Presenter/Compare and even a presenter for Kettering Hospital Broadcasting . That, too, was fun.

One highlight that will forever be a fond memory was meeting, and working with the ‘Emperor Rosko’ at a gig. Coming in second place was just fine when ‘doing it’ with the great man. He’s still going strong so there’s hope for me yet!

Finally, after the best part of 15 years working in the industry, I decided it was time to hang up the headphones .. but the love of my music was, and still is, strong. So, when I came to live in the South West  I got involved with a community station down here .. I guess it’s time to pull the boots on again and keep on rockin’ . If it’s fun, why stop? … it just gets better.

Peace and love to all
